Over the last few months Pendle Triathlon Club have been working with the Canal and River Trust to launch a new awareness campaign about open water swimming.
The #BeWaterSafe campaign has been launched to advise people about the dangers of jumping into cold water over the summer. The trust has launched two videos which can be viewed on the links below. The first video features triathletes from Pendle Triathlon Club, based at Foulridge Reservoir in Lancashire, who are demonstrating why water safety is important. In the video the club demonstrates that it doesn’t matter how strong a swimmer you think you are, you can’t train your body for the shocks of cold water and hidden dangers. The second video is an interview with Mel and Pete, parents of James Goodship who sadly drowned on Foulridge Reservoir in June 2014.
