There is a new Triathlon England permitted event coming to Surrey Sports Park - the Guildford Triathlon. We asked the organisers to introduce us to the event!

March is finally here, and Surrey residents are already taking advantage of the extra hour of daylight by squeezing in a quick after-work run and dusting off their swim gear to prepare for Guildford’s first ever triathlon! There’s just 2 months to go until the start gun is fired at Guildford’s only triathlon, which is hosted by the state-of-the-art Surrey Sports Park.
The event is taking place on 29th May 2016, and will involve a sprint distance triathlon for adults, and shorter “Tristar” distance aquathlon events for children.
The event is limited to 500 competitors; but half of these places have already been sold. Those who are interested are urged to book soon to avoid disappointment. Event Director, Becky Russell says “The Guildford Triathlon will be a fantastic, fun event!”
Athletes will complete their swim in the 50 metre Surrey Sports Park pool, before taking to their bikes to complete a 20km route along quiet roads to the North West of Guildford. The off-road run will follow trails across land owned by the University of Surrey. Children will complete their run on the Sports Park fields following a pool swim.
