Goodbye to Jenny and welcome to Kelly!

Published:

We are very pleased to announce that Jenny Vincent has been appointed as the new National Open Water Development Manager and that Kelly Wickens has accepted the full time South East Regional Manager Role. Both appointments have taken place with immediate effect!

It has been an action packed few months at British Triathlon, with a number of new projects and programmes being developed and implemented. One of these is in the world of open water swimming; British Triathlon and the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) have confirmed a new partnership to support the promotion and development of the sport.

The three-year partnership recognises the potential growth of open water swimming and the need to develop the sport’s existing infrastructure to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for new and existing participants.

As a result of this exciting partnership, Regional Manager, Jenny Vincent has been successfully appointed as National Open Water Development Manager. Jenny will be starting this new and exciting role, based in Loughborough, immediately.

Jenny began working for British Triathlon in 2010, as the London Regional Manager, and since then has worked as the South East Regional Manager, National Lead for Women's Partnership and most recently Leeds WTS - Project Engagement Manager. Since moving over from London to the South East region in 2013, Jenny has overseen the British Triathlon AGM and Awards move to Chessington World of Adventures, bringing the highest ever attendance; seen The Leeds Castle Triathlon be selected as the Triathlon England Sprint Championships event; and seen the South East region host the largest number of GO TRI events of any region across England.

Jenny commented "I have loved every minute of my time as South East Regional Manager and although I am extremley excited about my new role, I am sad to leave Kent, to relocate to Loughborough. I would like to say a huge thank you to the South East Regional Committee in particular and to everyone who I have met and worked with in the last 3 years. I will continue to visit the region and I look forward to seeing you all at a triathlon soon!"

Having lost Jenny, we are very lucky though that Kelly Wickens has accepted the South East Regional Manager position full time, with immediate affect. Kelly is well versed in the Regional Manager role having previously providing maternity cover in the South Central region and more recently working with Jenny in the South East region allowing her to gain a great hand over. Kelly is a keen triathlete herself and is very excited to get going in the region.

Matt Honey, the South East region chairman commented "We have been very lucky to have Jenny as the South East Manager for the last two years and I and the committee would like to thank her and wish her the best of luck with her new role as the National Open Water Development Manager. Whilst we have lost Jenny, we have gained Kelly though and her experience with the South Central region and knowledge of the sport has allowed her to hit the ground running.  As a committee we very much look forward to working with her."

If you need any support or have any questions for our new regional manager, please email Kelly.
