New Event Comes to Whitstable

Published:

Sunday 28th June see the inaugural Whitstable Oysterman Triathlon and it's not too late to enter!

The Active Life Oysterman triathlon is the first open water triathlon event to come to the
seaside town of Whitstable, this exciting and unique event will see competitors swim 750m
in the bay, before heading into transition which is based on the beach itself tucked right
behind the iconic Whitstable harbour. There will be no time for oysters however as the
competitors will be quickly heading out of the harbour for the 20km bike route making their
way through the surrounding woodland towards Canterbury on a slightly challenging yet
achievable bike course before heading back on a time trial style section towards the
harbour.

The 5km run is a stunner! Making full use of the coastal path heading East towards
Tankerton before turning back along the fast and flat promenade to finish in the West end
of the Harbour. Where you will receive your finishers pack, t-‐shirt and medal which we hope
you will wear with pride as an official Oysterman!

As part of the Active Life Triathlon Series the Oysterman is aimed at getting people involved
in the sport and have had a large amount of entries from first timers so we are very happy
and encouraged by this.

Equally it will be a great opportunity for seasoned triers to push themselves and practise in a
set up that they may not have experienced before.

With fantastic support from Whitstable Yacht Club, and other local businesses this is set to
be a great new event and one that will return year on year.

Don't forget to look out for the Surf n Turf later on in August, a fantastic aquathlon event
with the choice of two distances.
