South East gears up for GO TRI 1000

Published:

Triathlon England South East are very excited to be hosting 7 GO TRI 1000 events on the weekend of Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th April. This is more than any other region in England.

Triathlon England's new low-cost and short-distance triathlon events and training programme called GO TRI is looking to inspire 1000 new triathletes with a nationwide series of beginner events taking place over one single weekend in April.

The participation weekend named the GO TRI 1000 will take place on 25/26 April, with over 30 separate venues hosting an event. Spread right across the country, the aim is to encourage 1,000 new participants to take part in their first multi-sport action.

All the GO TRI 1000 triathlon events are manageable distances which start from an achievable 100m swim, 2.5k bike and 1k run,  with a number of events being duathlons (run and bike) and aquathlons (swim and run). The full list of the GO TRI 1000 events can be viewed at GO TRI’s dedicated website www.gotri.org.

There is also an exciting area where you can log your triathlon training, earn reward badges and share your experiences socially.

Rob Bishop, Triathlon England's GO TRI Events Manager said: "The support for our weekend initiative from existing event organisers has been very positive. The two-day GO TRI 1000 will see a huge influx of people entering our sport at the same time, sharing their experiences to a new audience, which is an exciting prospect for GO TRI and triathlon as a whole.”

The GO TRI team are calling on anybody who is currently thinking about doing their first triathlon or people already in the sport who know any friends and family who may be looking to take the plunge, to get involved or spread the word that on 25/26 April a thousand new triathletes from all backgrounds will be born and you could be part of it!
