Focus on North Bristol Triathlon Club (NBTC)

Published:

North Bristol Triathlon Club (NBTC) was formed in August 2014 with an aim to motivate and empower people of all fitness levels to take part in multisport events.

We currently have 67 members from all over the Bristol and surrounding areas, with a wide range of abilities from people training for their very first Triathlon all the way to experienced Ironmen and GB level athletes.

As a new club we’re slowly gaining momentum and word of the club is spreading, this is partially helped by our bright orange club kit (we don’t’ exactly blend into the surroundings) and the amazing support each member of the club gives to one another during events.

Every week we have a number of coached and social training sessions across the disciplines.  Thanks to the amazing coaching resources we have within the club (www.tri-coaching.co.uk) we can cater for all abilities.  Over the summer we also ran a number of beginner open water sessions, open to everyone these were run to give club and non-club members with little or no open water experience or confidence a coached environment to give open water swimming a go.

NBTC has also hosted a number of short distance Triathlons and Duathlons run under the Tri England GO TRI initiative.  These have been very rewarding, introducing and encouraging dozens of people to give a multisport event a go and experience the thrill and pain of completing a multisport event and the feedback and support we’ve received has been tremendous.

The future for the club is bright, not just due to the club colours!  Membership is growing and we’re learning all the time about what sessions our members are looking for so are always open for suggestions of ways to improve.  Diversity is the key for us, a good mix of abilities, ages and gender (as it currently stands 45% of members are female) makes for a great mix of people to encourage and inspire.
