Tewkesbury Triathlon Club (TTC) has 110 members who compete at every level from local, pool-based sprint triathlons to ironman distance and GBR age group races all over the world. Not bad for a small, market town of just 10,000 people

They believe the key to longevity and a growing, strengthening membership is an ambitious and talented committee unafraid to take on challenges and make difficult decisions as they strive to provide a compelling package for members aged 19 to 75.

A strong coaching set up is in place and the team now benefits from five Level 2 BTF coaches, four Level 1 coaches and two highly experienced Level 2 ASA swimming coaches. 

To build on this success, 2017 saw the club initiate a coaching strategy working party. The subsequent detailed report, with excellent support from the professional  team at the BTF, is a comprehensive plan for the way forward to help members develop to their full potential.

They should be proud of how many people the club has introduced to the sport of triathlon. Over the last four years TTC has taken 125 people through a 10-week course to complete their first sprint triathlon.  To support the initiative they secured National Lottery grant funding and financial support from Gloucestershire County Council.

A new initiative new this year is an alliance with two local clubs – Evesham and Gloucester – they have donated free places at there sprint triathlon events to each other to encourage mass club participation.  It has worked brilliantly in creating new relationships and adding to the atmosphere of events.  Next year they will extend the scheme to include an inter-club competition bringing in two other local clubs.

2017 saw the first TTC members take part in the national Relays in Nottingham.

They finish this year with there first ever awards evening and dinner to recognise the achievements of members.
