GO TRI Easton Aquathlon 8 – Event News…

Published:

Easton held its eighth ‘open to all’ Go Tri Aquathlon event at the weekend and it was perfect conditions for a great experience once again.

13 participants entered to brave the Autumnal conditions of this 8th event, and the last in the 2016 Series. It was encouraging to see some quicker times on the swim and/or run from those who were returning for another attempt, and also to see a couple stepping up to the next longer distance. There were also 3 first timers taking the plunge, so well done and welcome into the world of multisport.

We have been very lucky with the weather conditions so far with all our previous 7 events and this one was no exception – a perfect Autumnal morning that was a little fresh, but dry and bright with the sun shining. With the transition area finely tuned and everyone getting through well, split times were noted and then it was just the out and back run to go. Some extra attention was made to adding some motivational chalk mark messages along the route for participants to enjoy, and hopefully everyone noticed the prompt to take in the great view through the clearing that looks over Bristol on the return leg.

The format was consistent to the previous events with 3 distances to choose from. Entrants selected either a 300m swim then 2km run, a 500m swim then 5km run, or a 500m swim then the longer 8km run. The new and preferred run directions at the start made for a more direct effort to the main path route, but then it was business as usual with the familiar slight uphill slope before the finishing line ‘home straight’ approach to the flags.

Thank you to all those who helped spread the info about the event again and the marshals (Pete, Edu, Vish and Pete) on the day who did a brilliant job. Also to Cath (DM), Maff, lifeguards and FOH for your help. It wouldn’t have been as successful without all your support.

We hope to schedule the first event of the ‘2017 Series’ for April in the New Year.
