GO TRI Easton Aquathlon

Published:

Easton held its seventh ‘open to all’ Go Tri Aquathlon event on Sunday at the weekend and a most enjoyable morning was had by all.

Another great turnout with 25 participants entered for the 7th event, from first timers to experienced multi-sporters, and again with a number of previous entrants returning to beat their time. The weather was very good to us again after an unsettled week leading up to it. The mix of sunshine and cloud made for ideal running conditions along the shaded cycle path. The majority of participants entered early and with their estimated swim times already logged, it made for a swift swim section. Split times were recorded and slight improvements to the transition area ensured everyone could mingle together at the end after the run.

The format consistent to the previous event with 3 distances to choose from. Entrants selected either a 300m swim then 2km run, a 500m swim then 5km run, or a 500m swim then the longer 8km run. A trial new run section close to the centre meant a hard corner was tackled before the familiar ‘home straight’ finishing line. As always the slight uphill slope with 100m to go required a last big effort before the finishing flag gantry was in sight.

Thank you to all those who helped spread the info about the event again and the marshals (Pete, Steph, and Pete) on the day who did a brilliant job. Also to Mark (DM), Tony, lifeguards and FOH for your help. It wouldn’t have been as successful without all your support.

We hope to schedule the next event around the middle of September, with potentially the last of the series in October
