Birmingham Women to Sample a Taste of Triathlon

Searching for Birmingham women who would like a health and fitness challenge with a difference… triathlon for beginners.

British Triathlon has teamed up with Fox Hollies Leisure Centre in Acocks Green to offer a special women only training sessions in swimming, cycling and running.

The beginner training day will be held at the centre in Shirley Road on Saturday 18th March from 1pm to 5.30pm.

Helen Barklam, from British Triathlon, said: “These sessions are designed for women who have always fancied having a go at triathlon, but never taken the plunge. The women will experience just how fun and accessible our sport is to everyone.

“Mixing different activities like swimming, running and cycling is a great way to get in shape as the different sports challenge different parts of your body. We want women to try our sport in a non-intimidating and friendly environment with our qualified and experienced coaches.

“We host mini GO-TRI triathlons around the area for those who would like to put what they have learned to the test. But, others may just want to use it as a kick start to the new year,” she added.

The half-day session is just £5 and is part of British Triathlon’s GO-TRI programme, helping to increase the number of people taking part in swimming, cycling and running. Those who are interested can register here: https://www.gotri.org/activities/id/6267/
