Shrewsbury Women Only Sessions Launched

Published:

Shrewsbury women can take their first steps into triathlon with a four-week series of cycling and running sessions on a closed, traffic free track.

SYtri triathlon club in Shrewsbury has teamed up with British Triathlon to run the four- week programme as part of the This Girl Can campaign.

Women will be looked after by qualified triathlon coaches to build confidence on the bike in a safe environment and pick up some top tips to help improve their running technique at the sessions at Shrewsbury Sports Village.

The sessions will run from 6.30pm to 7.30pm from Monday 20th March and every Monday for four weeks.

Helen Barklam, from British Triathlon, said: “These one hour weekly sessions are a great opportunity for women to really focus on themselves, their health and a new challenge with properly trained and supportive coaches.

“Mixing different activities like running and cycling is a great way to get in shape and a fantastic opportunity for ladies to try something new. We are hoping that the fact that these are women only sessions will help to encourage women to get involved in the different activities that make up triathlon in a non intimidating and friendly environment.”

It will cost just £8 for all four weeks (and you don’t have to come to all four if you already have things booked in). Find out more and book your place here.
