Bursaries - If you are a West Midlands triathlon club paying for your members to go onto the Level 2 coach education course, you are entitled to a regional bursary of £175
To apply for this, you must fill in the application form and send to Kirsty Outhwate before the course starts. Please click here for the form. 

The certificate qualifies you to independently plan, deliver and evaluate triathlon related activities to groups of children and/ or adults in any of the Level 2 coaching environments, including coaching in open water environments.

This course focuses on producing a competent club session coach who can promote the benefits of participating in triathlon, and  develop appropriate skill acquisition through quality coaching of participants from grass roots level upwards.

The course is spread over 5 days over a period of 5-6 months

4 full learning days

1 assessment and personal review day

40-60 hours of home study which includes:

  • Pre course work for each weekend attended  (allow 2-4 hours)  
  • Session planning and delivery of 6-10 coaching sessions in club

The level 1 qualification has been revised for 2016, and will allow a coach to lead and deliver (pre-planned) sessions or plan basic sessions on their own (reviewed by higher level coach) in a range of club environments (without the need to be directly supervised). You will gain the knowledge to adapt sessions to meet the needs of a variety of participants.

The course is spread over 3 days over a period of 2 months

  • Two full learning days and a third day comprising a final practical coaching assessment, personal review and action planning.
  • Home study - around 10-14 hours over 3-4 weeks (including some pre-course work).
