Meet our Regional Club of the Year - Craven Energy

Published:

"Superb coaching for both juniors and adults. The club encourages all abilities. The standout aspect for 2020 has been the way the coaching team have supported all through the lockdown, concentrating on both physical and importantly mental well-being."

The committee are first class and their energy and enthusiasm certainly encourage more to volunteer. No stone is left unturned with the organisation to the point that volunteering is a pleasure and most enjoyable.

Club Secretary Peter commented, "That is awesome news, we're truly humbled by this ... The last few months have been challenging for all sports clubs, it's great to be appreciated for the hard yards many from our team have put in to ensure our members have had something to keep spirits up and focussed through this period. Thank you again, this makes it all worthwhile. Yours. Peter."

The club have a thriving junior and adult membership, providing sessions for all ages and levels of fitness throughout the year.

The club have set out a clear development plan for 2020 and didn't let COVID stand in their way.

  • Recognise club volunteers, coaches, event organisers and officials with discounted sessions and club clothing.
  • Develop the club website so it offers both a membership and session booking system.
  • Grow their club workforce, by increasing the number of coaches and triathlon activators.
  • Continue to work on their open water swimming offer.

Normally, Craven Energy host the very popular GO TRI Skipton events four times a year and have helped hundreds of new people get involved with the sport.  They also deliver the GO TRI Novice Training Day leading up to Skipton Sprint Triathlon, organised by Craven District Council, of which they support by marshalling at the event.

At the end of the year they also host the very popular Craven Energy Junior Triathlon which is the final race in the Yorkshire Junior Series calendar and is a must to make sure that you gain them all important final points for the overall series.

The club have really put Skipton on the map.  We have loved watching their virtual challenges over the past few months.  Keep up the good work!

This is just a short insight to how the club run. Have a look at their website for more information.

Congratulations to clubs nominated and thank you to those that took the time to put their club forward.  It was a hard decision!

The Regional Winners in each category have now been put forward for the national awards and the winners will be announced at the Virtual Triathlon England Conference on Saturday 14th November.

Good luck to everyone!
