Overview

You might have seen across our channels that on Monday 13 July we launched our new guidance for events to operate in a Covid-19 Secure manner. This means that permitted events that meet the agreed requirements can resume across England from 25 July.

On the back of this announcement, British Triathlon are launching a series of Intelligent Race Days (IRD) to support our entire pathway.

Format of the days

Each IRD will provide a mixture of activities including training races and skills challenges depending on the age and stage of the athletes. At all times, athletes will take part in the required ‘socially distanced group of one’ in a time trial format to meet Covid-19 Secure requirements.

For each activity on the day, all athletes will be in one ‘wave’ and must:

  • Start 20 seconds apart in an individual rolling start,
  • Keep the mandatory minimum distances behind (swim: 2m; bike: 10m; run: 2m) at all times unless overtaking.

Athletes will be ordered in each wave in a way to minimise the chance of overtaking.

Competitors will take part in an individual time trial (250m swim, 2.8km bike, 1.1km run), transition challenge, and mixed relays.

This is a closed event and not open to the public.
