Six Great Britain Age-Group Team members have been chosen as the new Yellow Jersey Age-Group Ambassadors for 2024, after the programme successfully launched in 2023.
Nina Wareham, Katie Wright, Hayley Wells, Lewis Bradley, Andi Britt, and Hussain Al-Zubaidi have been selected by British Triathlon and Yellow Jersey, following a highly competitive selection process.
As an ambassador, all six athletes will be sharing their journey within the sport on their social media channels as they represent the British Triathlon Age-Group Team across the world in a variety of disciplines throughout 2024. Their aim is to encourage and inspire others to set their own swim, bike, run goals be it trying the sport for the first time, setting a personal best or representing the GB Age-Group Team.
To support them in their journey the six athletes will receive an exclusive Yellow Jersey and British Triathlon package. The package includes a year’s free bike insurance amongst other Yellow Jersey items, a Yellow Jersey sponsored British Triathlon Age-Group Team trisuit, an annual Ultimate British Triathlon Membership as well as items from British Triathlon partners.
To kick start their year working with Yellow Jersey and British Triathlon, the ambassadors attended a training day at British Triathlon’s Loughborough Performance Centre.
During the day they took part in a variety of workshops, including a training session with Bath Triathlon Centre Head Coach, Jack Hall. They also had the chance to meet British Triathlon World Class Paralympic Performance Programme athletes Finley Jakes and Oscar Kelly, who offered advice and chatted all things triathlon.
Andy Salmon British Triathlon CEO said: “I’d like to start by congratulating the six ambassadors on being successful in the application process. We had a larger number of quality applicants so to be chosen is a fantastic achievement in itself.
“We’re really excited to be working with the ambassadors and Yellow Jersey to showcase their journey within the sport with the aim of raising the profile of our Age-Group Team and encouraging more members to try and qualify for the team as well as inspiring new people to take up swim, bike, run.
“They are just six of thousands of people who take immense pride in wearing the GB Age-Group Team trisuit every year and we wish each and every one of those athletes the best of luck for the 2024 season.
“None of this would be possible though without the support of Yellow Jersey and our wider group of partners who help us provide our members, athletes and staff with the highest level of support possible.”
Ryan Georgiades, Yellow Jersey Managing Director, added: “The Great Britain Age Group athletes are hugely important to British Triathlon Federation and Yellow Jersey is immensely proud to sponsor the Ambassador programme again. 2024 sees six new GB Age Group athletes become Yellow Jersey Ambassadors who will share their journey of hard work and dedication, showing what it requires to achieve their goals, whilst aiming to inspire new athletes to give triathlon a go and show how rewarding and fun it is!
The ambassador programme is a continuation of Yellow Jersey’s commitment to the Great Britain Age-Group Team which forms part of a wider partnership announced in 2022. The insurance provider are also the national governing body’s Official Cycle and Travel Insurance Partner.
