It was a day of medals at AJ Bell 2022 World Triathlon Championships Series with British and Yorkshire champions crowned before the Great Britain mixed relay team rounded off the weekend with a superb silver medal in the event-closing mixed relay.

Leeds hosted the mixed relay format for the first time, and it ended with a third GB medal of the weekend, thanks to a strong team performance from Tom Bishop, Sophie Coldwell, Grant Sheldon and Georgia Taylor-Brown.

MIXED RELAY ROUND-UP

Earlier in the day, over 20 British champions were crowned as more than 1,150 age group athletes competed in the British Standard Distance Triathlon Championships. Medals were awarded to the top-three athletes in each age group who were British Triathlon Home Nation members.

The championships were also a Great Britain Age-Group Team qualifying event for next year’s European Standard Distance Triathlon Championships.

RESULTS

The Yorkshire Championships were also held in Roundhay Park on Sunday morning with Tom Langdon and Sharon Leeming both earning the honour of becoming Yorkshire champion.

YORKSHIRE HONOUR

Alongside both the British and Yorkshire Championships, participants were also taking on swim, bike, run in the open sprint and standard events, as well as joining teammates in the sprint and standard distance relays.
