Junior Update :Take part in the South East Junior Race Series 2019

The Junior Race Series is a series of events across the region providing young triathletes with a wide range of experiences and the fun of competition. The 2019 Series will include two duathlons and aquathlons as well as triathlons with pool swims, open water swims, sea swims, bike legs raced on grass and road.   See HERE for lots more information.

Athletes are given a score for each race they take part in and at the end of the series the first, second and third placed male and female athlete in each TriStar age group T1, T2, T3 and Youth receive awards.  Young triathletes should be members of Triathlon England with South East as their Home region and then they will be automatically included in the series if they enter a Series event. Athlete current rankings are updated after every race and are displayed on the South East web pages HERE

Racing starts in May with Medway Duathlon on May 4th, followed by Bri Tri Kids Tri, a pool swim triathlon on May 18th and then Bodyworks Aquathlon on May 25th. These well established, and friendly events, are brilliant season openers for new triathletes and old hands alike. Get your entries in as soon as you can!

Skills School – what is happening?!

Apologies for event dates going out and then being cancelled, rebooked and changed again!  It has been frustrating for parents and athletes I know, as Skills School goes through some changes at Head Office.  The official re launch will be in September but in the South East we are lucky to be able to deliver a few key Skills Schools this year, as the region is fully supportive of these opportunities for our young athletes.

The following Skills Schools are being held in 2019:

Sunday April 28th,  Cyclopark, Kent –bike handling and racing skills, duathlon practice
Sunday June 16th  Leybourne Lakes and Cyclopark, Kent – open water practice followed by racing skills development including group riding skills, transition skills and race preparation.
Sunday August 25th Leybourne Lakes and Cyclopark, Kent – TS2 and TS3 athletes that either want to improve their skills in drafting races or want to take part in drafting races in 2020 and for Youth athletes.

Skills School days are for young triathletes, 10-16 years, to develop their triathlon skills in a fun and engaging environment.
