Learner Support, Accessibility and Overseas Students

We are deeply committed to providing comprehensive support to our learners throughout their training journey. Our dedicated tutors employ various methods to ensure your success and maximise your learning experience. Group online workshops offer an interactive platform for collective learning and engagement with both tutors and fellow learners. Additionally, on our coaching qualifications, we provide individual feedback sessions to address specific questions or concerns, allowing for personalised guidance and assistance. Furthermore, we keep you updated through forums, providing a space for ongoing discussion and knowledge sharing. Should you require any additional support or have specific needs, we encourage you to reach out to us before enrolling on a course. We will work closely with you to ensure a fair and accommodating learning process, making reasonable adjustments to assessments where required. Our aim is to support you in every way possible, and we are always here to assist and find solutions that work best for you. We understand that certain aspects may appear challenging, but with a brief conversation, we can provide reassurance and explore alternative approaches tailored to your individual needs. 


Our Education and learning philosophy is built upon the three pillars of progressive, adaptive and inclusive approaches and we understand the importance of providing inclusive learning opportunities for all learners. To ensure that our courses are accessible to a diverse range of learners, we have taken several intentional steps in its design.

1. Diverse Learning Formats:

Our courses feature a blend of learning formats to cater to various learning preferences and needs. These formats include live online workshops conducted via Zoom, self-paced modules hosted on Learning Hub (a Moodle platform), and immersive face-to-face development days. This blend allows participants to choose the approach that suits their learning style and availability.

2. Comprehensive Accessibility Review:

We are committed to making sure that our courses are accessible to everyone, regardless of their abilities. Our team has reviewed the course content for accessibility compliance. This includes using the available tools in our content creation software to review and enhance accessibility features. All content has been designed in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Section 508 standards to ensure compatibility with assistive technologies.

3. Inclusive Narration Option:

Where possible, we have gone a step further by incorporating optional narration throughout the content. This feature ensures that learners who prefer auditory information are catered to, enhancing the overall accessibility of the courses.

4. Keyboard Operability:

We understand the importance of keyboard navigation for individuals who rely on it for navigation. All self-led online learning modules are designed to be fully operable through a keyboard, enabling a seamless learning experience for those who may have motor or mobility challenges.

5. Plain Language Communication:

Clear and concise communication is vital for effective learning. We have made every effort to communicate in plain English throughout the course materials. This approach ensures that the content is easily comprehensible for all participants, regardless of their background or language proficiency.

6. Colour Scheme Considerations:

Our commitment to accessibility extends to the visual elements of the course. The colour schemes used in our materials adhere to WCAG and 508 guidelines to ensure readability and accommodate individuals with colour vision deficiencies.

While we have made significant strides in creating an accessible learning experience, we recognise that there is always room for improvement. We value your input and welcome feedback from learners. If you encounter any challenges or have suggestions for enhancing accessibility further, please do not hesitate to share your insights with us. Your feedback will play a crucial role in helping us refine our course and make it even more inclusive moving forward.

English Language Skills 

All our courses are conducted exclusively in English and therefore all learners must possess a solid command of both spoken and written English language skills. Regrettably, no accommodations can be made during assessments in this regard. For inquiries regarding courses delivered in the Welsh language, we kindly direct you to Welsh Triathlon, who can provide further assistance and guidance. 

Overseas Learners 

Our courses are open to all; however, we would suggest that any overseas learner considers the following before applying: 

  • Whilst the online elements can be completed anywhere - you are still required to attend the face-to-face development days in person. We will be unable to refund or transfer candidates who cannot attend due to overseas travel restrictions (subject to normal Terms & Conditions). 

  • British Triathlon courses are designed to meet the requirements of coaching within the British Triathlon home nations - specifically around the club structure. Will the course outcomes meet the needs of coaching in your home country? 

  • Does your own country offer coach education? 

  • Will our qualification be recognised, and can you gain insurance? British Triathlon insurance cover only applies to coaches who are UK residents. 

  • Can you access an ITU approved course through your own National Federation? 

  • Additional travel and accommodation costs - can you get to the face-to-face development day venues once in the country. 

  • Level 2 diploma – we do offer this course in an online format and so it can be accessed by overseas learners. However, we suggest that you review potential insurance cover prior to starting this course as the insurance included within our membership will not cover you.
