Trials Information

This is a 3 stage process:

1. Online Application and review (see link below)

2. Swimming and Running Time Trials

3. Academy Selection Day

The Triathlon England South East Regional Academy Swimming and Running Trials will take place on Sunday 15th September at Brighton University Eastbourne Campus for the 2019/20 Squad. The timings of the day will be added once finalised.

If you are successful at these trials you will be invited to attend the 3rd stage of the process on Sunday 6th October  at Bedes School The Dicker East Sussex.

Shortly after this invitations to join the Academy as either a full member or affiliate member will be sent out.

Applications are invited from South East based athletes born in the year 2001 to 2005  who are likely to achieve 320 combined points or above.  Please do be aware that athletes are not selected onto an academy on points alone.

Online applications can be found at  https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/2019-20_Regional_Academy- our applications will close on the 10th September. The trials will be open to anyone who can achieve the necesarry base standards up to a capacity of 40. You will be informed by email if your application to trial is successful as soon as the applications have been reviewed. If you are offered a place in the Academy or Affiliate squad you will be required to become a member of Triathlon England if you aren't already.

You should read the Regional Academy Guide very carefully, it will help when deciding whether or not to apply. The Regional Academy Points Calculator is located at the bottom of the Talent Identification page and times calculated are based on your single discipline performances. Selection to stage 3 will be based on points achieved at the swim / run trials initially and final academy selection will be based on many factors, most importantly if it is the right environment for an athlete at this time, supported by information provided in the application process  this is likely to be a combined minimum of 320 points for affiliates and 340 points for Academy Members. Athletes aged 16 and upwards on the day will trial over 400m swim and 3000m run.  Guest athletes may be invited to join Academy sessions throughout the year  if the session would be benefical to them.

These tables demonstrate times needed to score a balanced swim / run 340 points. This can also be achieved by scoring higher in one discipline, as long as both score a minimum of 160 points.
