Qualification

To qualify for this event, athletes must supply a race result which meets the qualifying criteria and qualification evidence outlined below.

Qualification evidence

Athletes are required to submit performances providing the following information:

  • Race name
  • Race date
  • Athlete finish time
  • Winner of age-groups finishing time
  • Working link to your age group's online results (URL)

Specific Race Result criteria:

  • Event must have been chip timed.
  • Results must be in 5- or 10-year age bands. Note - 10-year age bands may disadvantage athletes as they will be compared to athletes who could potentially be 10 years younger than them.
  • Results that are not published in age bands will be accepted and considered at the third registration cut-off date.
  • Races should be the equivalent of a Middle-Distance Duathlon or Triathlon with the bike on tarmac and the run predominantly on paths.
  • Athletes who compete in WT or ET (World or European Championship) standard distance duathlons may use their result to try and qualify for this race but must finish within 115% of the winner of their age group's time.
  • Results must have a finishing time which is within 115% of the winner of your age group. If you are moving up an age group in the championship year, use the time from the winner of the age group you are moving into.
  • Link to Time Percentage Calculator like the one found here.
  • There are no minimum number of competitors required in a race for it to be used as evidence, but the Team Manager must deem the result to be competitive regarding the number of competitors.
  • Please click here for further information about events being deemed non-competitive after lockdowns end.
  • If an athlete improves their best performance before a registration deadline and would like to update the result, they can update the result by following the instructions found here and looking for "How do I change the race result I added to qualify for an WT/ET race."
  • Please Note: If you are moving up an age group in the championship year, then your qualification will be based on where your finishing time would have placed you in the age-group category you will be racing for in the year you do the qualifying race.  Please see point 8.3 in the Terms and Conditions.

Time frame results can be used from and will be considered by:

  • Results must be valid between the following dates: July 2023 to the final registration cut-off date.

Allocation of Places

  • There are 20 places in each age group. Some of these places may be pre-filled by athletes who Pre-Qualify from the previous year’s Championships.
  • Places are allocated after registration cut off dates in order of fastest result to slowest result. This may take 2 weeks.
  • After the final registration date, the remaining places will be allocated and if any athletes then withdraw the remaining place will be allocated by rolldown places.
  • Qualified athletes will be notified by e-mail and will be marked with a 'Q' next to their name in the registered athletes list. This can take up to 2 weeks after the qualifying race. Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4 and Q are all qualifying statuses.
  • It is an athlete's responsibility to check they have registered for the correct event and that their name appears in the list of athletes on the event webpage. (If your name is not there, please check the next age group)
  • If you use a Hotmail, outlook or work email address please check your junk mail, we find these email addresses often send our emails to the junk mail inbox. We advise athletes not to use these types of email addresses and we can't re-issue a Q if an athlete has missed the opportunity to take up their place because they missed an email.
