British Triathlon is looking for the next Lauren Steadman or Claire Cashmore to compete at future Paralympic Games in paratriathlon.

The campaign features a range of British paratriathletes including Tokyo 2020 gold medallist Lauren Steadman, recent convert to paratriathlon from para-cycling, Henry Urand, and 2022 Commonwealth Games athlete Oscar Kelly who progressed through the national pathway at British Triathlon.

With the Paris Paralympic Games just around the corner, 2024 provides national governing bodies like British Triathlon with the opportunity to attract aspiring athletes of the future into their sport.

The organisation will be hosting Talent ID Days during the year, the first of which will take place at Loughborough University in April. These days are an opportunity for aspiring paratriathletes to ask questions about the sport and what it’s like to be part of a performance sporting programme, as well as give swim, bike, run a go with a series of sessions and testing.

Having already been announced as part of the LA 2028 programme, paratriathlon offers a great opportunity to combine swim, bike, run across a variety of physical impairment categories.

It’s the LA Games and beyond that the ‘You Won’t Know Until You Tri’ is focused on and so potential paratriathletes don’t need to be involved in the sport already, or any of the three disciplines that make up the sport.

Paratriathlon will be making its third appearance in the Paralympic Games in Paris having debuted in 2016. The number of medal events offered grew when the Games headed to Tokyo in 2021, with 2024 seeing yet another increase in the medals on offer.
