Kicking off the 2022 British Triathlon National Conference

Today, Tuesday 15 February, marks the first day of the 2022 British Triathlon National Conference, offering the Triathlon England, Triathlon Scotland and Welsh Triathlon community engaging talks and CPD opportunities.

The conference is aimed across the triathlon landscape in Britain, with opportunities for members, coaches, volunteers, officials, parents and affiliated clubs to get involved.

The national conference is free of charge for all clubs affiliated to one of the Home Nations, as well as affiliated coaches, activators, Technical Officials and Home Nation members and will take place virtually via the Socio platform.

There will be keynote sessions from Ben Bright, Triathlon Olympic Head Coach, on day one and a double keynote session on day two, Wednesday 16 February, from Marcus Bloomfield, Team GB BMX Coach followed by Ladi Ajayi who is head of Sport at AKD Solutions.

Tokyo 2020 saw Team GB’s triathletes return with two individual silver medals for Georgia Taylor-Brown and Alex Yee, as well as an historic gold in the first Olympic mixed relay triathlon event where Taylor-Brown and Yee teamed up with Jonny Brownlee and Jess Learmonth. As head coach, Bright was one of the leading voices in bringing the team together and instrumental in the team behind the team.

The keynotes will be the first of the evening on both days, kicking off at 6pm. They will be followed up by a series of workshops which attendees can choose from.

These will cover topics such as the menopause and triathlon, clean sport, organising club events, coaching paratriathletes and being a parent of a young athlete over the two days.

Day one’s sessions which those attending will choose from are, from set one: The Menopause and Triathlon, CIMSPA Digital Media Hub and Competition Rules Update; with set two seeing attendees choose from: Online coaching for Children and Young People, ClubSpark 101 and Triathlon: Clean Sport.

All sessions will be an hour long and delivered following the day’s keynote session, with the first set starting at 7pm and the second at 8:15pm.
