Intention to Qualify

To register click on the blue 'Register' button above. You need your Home Nation membership number and password to log in.

Athletes must have a Core or Ultimate British Triathlon membership. Click here for membership information.

Athletes MUST register before 5pm on a registration closing date.

Once registered, athletes will receive a confirmation email and will be added to the registration list below. (Check junk mail if email not received)

Athletes must check their registration is successful by scrolling the page down and finding the age group they are in for the Championship year.

No late registrations including amendments will be accepted after the final registration date.

Athletes must be 18 on the 31st of December 2024 to be eligible to qualify.

Please note, the European Middle Distance Aquabike and Middle-Distance Triathlon take place on the same course at the same time. This means that athletes cannot compete in both races and must only register for one team at one time. If athletes are found to have registered for both races they will be contacted and asked which race they would like to be considered for. If there is no response after 5 days from the athlete, the submitted results will only be considered at Q3. Registrations and team selection cannot be transferred between teams or races. The £12 registration fee is not refundable.

The £12 registration fees are non-refundable in any circumstance.

All athletes who live outside the UK

All athletes who are British passport holders and who live outside the UK are welcome to register with a race result and their result will be compared to all other athletes who register with a race result. The result must meet the criteria outlined on this webpage.

Before they register, athletes who live outside the UK still need to purchase British Triathlon membership at Core or Ultimate level but should be aware that as they live outside the UK they may not benefit from all of the membership benefits such as insurance cover. Athletes must also purchase the Age Group Team tri-suit.

Buy British Triathlon membership before you register.

Qualification

To qualify for this event, athletes must supply a race result which meets the qualifying criteria and qualification evidence outlined below:

Qualification evidence

Athletes are required to submit performances providing the following information:

  • Race name
  • Race date
  • Athlete finish time
  • Winner of age-groups finishing time
  • Working link to your age group's online results (URL)

The following type of events are eligible for qualification if they fall within the qualification time periods.

  • Europe Triathlon Middle Distance Championship Events.
  • Ironman 70.3 event worldwide (providing there are more than 250 finishers).
  • Half Challenge event worldwide (providing there are more than 250 finishers).
  • A Middle Distance-Triathlon event held in the Great Britain that has been permitted by either: Triathlon England, Triathlon Wales, Triathlon Scotland, or Triathlon Ireland and has more than 250 finishers confirmed by the results which determines that the event was 'competitive'.

Specific Race Result criteria:

  • The race result used must have been from a chip timed event.
  • Results must be in 5-year age group bands.
  • Races should be the equivalent of an Open Water Middle Distance Triathlon with the 90km bike on tarmac and the run predominantly on paths. No other types of result will be considered.
  • Submitted results must have a finishing percentage of 115% of the winner of your age group to be considered for team selection. If you move up an age group, use the time from the winner of the age group you are moving into.
  • Link to Time Percentage Calculator like the one found here.
  • Races must have a minimum 250 finishers in the results.
  • Races may be in either a time trial format, socially distanced format or, a traditional wave format.
  • Middle distance races where one element was cancelled replaced or cut short, can still be submitted but a link must be added for a result for the missing discipline in the supporting evidence section, athletes who submit this type of result will only be considered from Q3 onwards.
  • If a race is due to have a bike section of over 50 miles but for whatever reason the course is changed to be under 50 miles, athletes may still submit results, but they will only be considered at the 3rd registration cut-off date, Q3.
  • If more than one competitor has a result of 100%, the most competitive result will be selected by the team manager. This may be the fastest time or the race with the most competitors in the affected age group depending on the race result used. The Team Managers decision is final.
  • If an athlete improves their best performance before a registration deadline and would like to update the result, they can update the result by following the instructions found here and looking for "How do I change the race result I added to qualify for an WT/ET race." Please email your Team Manager once you have updated your result.
  • Please Note: If you are moving up an age group in the championship year, then your qualification will be based on where your finishing time would have placed you in the age-group category you will be racing for in the year you do the qualifying race.  Please see point 8.3 in the Terms and Conditions.
