Intention to Qualify

To register click on the blue 'Register' button above. You need your Home Nation membership number and password to log in.

Athletes must have a Core or Ultimate British Triathlon membership. Click here for membership information.

Athletes MUST register before 5pm on a registration closing date. 

Once registered, athletes will receive a confirmation email and will be added to the registration list below. (Check junk mail if email not received)

Athletes must check their registration is successful by scrolling the page down and finding the age group they are in for the Championship year. 

No late registrations including amendments will be accepted after the final registration date.

Athletes must be 18 on the 31st of December 2024 to be eligible to qualify.

The £12 registration fees are non-refundable in any circumstance. 

 

All athletes who live outside the UK

All athletes who are British passport holders and who live outside the UK are welcome to register with a race result and their result will be compared to all other athletes who register with a race result. The result must meet the criteria outlined on this webpage.

Before they register, athletes who live outside the UK still need to purchase British Triathlon membership at Core or Ultimate level but should be aware that as they live outside the UK they may not benefit from all of the membership benefits such as insurance cover. Athletes must also purchase the Age Group Team tri-suit.

Qualification

To qualify for this event, athletes must supply a race result which meets the qualifying criteria and qualification evidence outlined below:

Qualification evidence 

Athletes are required to submit performances providing the following information:

  • Race name
  • Race date
  • Athlete finish time
  • Winner of age-groups finishing time
  • Working link to your age group's online results (URL)

Specific Race criteria:

  • The race result used must have been from a chip timed event.
  • Results must be in 5 age group bands. 10 year age bands will be considered at the third registration cut off date, Q3 onwards.
  • Types of events which can be used to qualify are; middle or long distance aquabike, middle or long distance triathlon.
  • If triathlon resuls are used, only use the swim, T1 and bike sections of tthe results.
  • Relay results may be used but the athlete must be named in the swim, T1 and bike sections AND be named in the results.
  • If the result which an athlete wishes to register with is from an aquabike race with more than 50 finishers in the results including DNS, DNF and DSQ the time of the winner of the age group from the aquabike race must be used. 
  • If the result which an athlete wishes to register with is from an Aquabike race with less than 50 finishers in the results including DNS, DNF and DSQ, the winner of the age group from the aquabike race must be used unless the winner of the age group from the triathlon running alongside the aquabike race is faster. (Use the swim, T1 and bike time of the winner of your age group from the triathlon taking place alongside the aquabike race.)
  • Results must meet the minimum distances of 1500m open water swim and 50-mile bike on tarmac to be eligible for qualification. 
  • Athletes must have a finishing time within 115% of the winner of their age group. If moving up an age group, athletes should take the time from the winner of the age group they're moving into.

  • Races may be in either a time trial format, socially distanced format or, a traditional wave format.
  • Times from separate swim and bike events are no longer permitted to be used to try and qualify for aquabike events.
  • Results which do not meet the criteria above will not be considered.
  • If more than one competitor has a result of 100%, the most competitive result will be selected by the Team Manager. This may be the fastest time or the race with the most competitors in the affected age group depending on the race result used. The Team Manager's decision is final. 
  • If an athlete improves their best performance before a registration deadline and would like to update the result, they can update the result by following the instructions found here and looking for "How do I change the race result I added to qualify for an WT/ET race." 
  • Please Note: If you are moving up an age group in the championship year, then your qualification will be based on where your finishing time would have placed you in the age-group category you will be racing for in the year you do the qualifying race.  Please see point 8.3 in the Terms and Conditions.

 

Registration cut off dates:

Q1-5pm Friday 27th October 2023

Q2- 5pm Friday 26th January 2024 

Q3-5pm Friday 22nd March 2024

Q4- 5pm Friday 7th June 2024 (this date has been moved due to the final registration date on the event organisers website changing)

PQs from 2023 deadline to register is the first registration deadline.

 

Time frame results can be used from and will be considered by:

  • Results must be valid between the following dates: May 2022 to the final registration cut-off date and will be considered in the order below.
  • Athletes who have registered with a result from January 2023 onward will be considered from Q1 onwards.
  • Athletes who have registered with a result from May 2022 onwards will be considered at Q2 onwards.
  • Athletes who have registered with a result in 10-year age group bands will be considered at Q3 onwards.

 

MULTISPORT LEGENDS Multisport Legend is the proud title earned by any athlete that races and completes five or more World Championships races at the Multisport World Championships (among Duathlon Sprint, Duathlon Standard, Cross Duathlon, Cross Triathlon, Aquathlon, LD Triathlon or Aquabike). This title was awarded before to any athlete completing four events, but from 2023 it will be awarded only to athletes completing five or more races. Complete at least five world championships races: Duathlon Sprint, Duathlon Standard, Cross Duathlon, Cross Triathlon, Aquathlon, LD Triathlon or Aquabike. Multisport Legends will receive a special recognition at the closing ceremony at the end of the Multisport World Championships

Pre-Qualification

To Pre-Qualify for the 2024 World Triathlon World Championship race, athletes must finish in the top 15 places in their age group and be one of the first three British athletes to finish in the 2023 World Triathlon World Championship race.

Allocation of Places

  • There are 20 places in each age group. Some of these places may be pre-filled by athletes who Pre-Qualify from the previous year’s Championships.
  • Places are allocated after registration cut off dates in order of fastest result to slowest result. This may take 3 weeks.
  • After the final registration date, the remaining places will be allocated and if any athletes then withdraw the remaining place will be allocated by rolldown places. 
  • Qualified athletes will be notified by e-mail and will be marked with a 'Q' next to their name in the registered athletes list. This can take up to 3 weeks after the qualifying race. Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4* and Q are all qualifying statuses. 
  • It is an athlete's responsibility to check they have registered for the correct event and that their name appears in the list of athletes on the event webpage. (If your name is not there, please check the next age group)
  • If you use a Hotmail, outlook or work email address please check your junk mail, we find these email addresses often send our emails to the junk mail inbox. We advise athletes not to use these types of email addresses and we can't re-issue a Q if an athletes has missed the opportunity to take up their place because they missed an email.
  • *If Q4 is used in the qualifying process

Entry

To confirm your place in the team, athletes need to pay the £25.50 International Race fee by 26/04/2024. If you miss this deadline, you will be withdrawn from the team and your place will be offered to someone waiting in a rolldown position.

For the first time athletes must enter this event directly through the World Triathlon website. Once you have paid your IRF we will send you the link to pay your race entry for the race, this will not be sent to you straight away and will sent out once we have this from World Triathlon.

If you register for Q3 or Q4 and get a Q we will email you with a date after the 26/04/2024.
