Brits Secure Top-Ten Places in Tangier and Malibu

Seven Brits secured top-ten finishes over the weekend as they were in action in Tangier and Malibu.

At World Triathlon Cup Tangier, Harry Leleu out-sprinted French duo Louis Vitello and Valentin Morlec to secure a well-earned fourth place, with just two seconds covering the trio as they crossed the line. The Brit ended the day just eight seconds behind Norwegian Vetle Bergsvik Thorn who finished third. Further back Hugo Milner secured 21st place with teammate Hamish Reilly in 23rd.

In the women’s race Vicky Holland returned to action for the first time since 2021 following her pregnancy. The 2016 Rio Olympic Games bronze medallist crossed the line in seventh place with a time of 00:59:17, just 15 seconds off the podium places. At Super League Triathlon Malibu, world champion Beth Potter was the highest placed Brit in the women’s race as she claimed fourth spot on her return to the series, after not racing in Toulouse. Sophie Coldwell crossed the line in sixth with Kate Waugh not far behind in seventh. Tilly Anema then led home a trio of British triathletes as she finished 16th with Sophie Alden (17th) and Iona Miller (18th) just behind.

In the men’s race Alex Yee, who like Potter did not race in Toulouse, finished the race in fifth place just five seconds off bronze medallist Matthew Hauser of Australia. Jonny Brownlee was the next Brit over the line as he finished in 10th place with Dan Dixon just behind in 13th. Max Stapley and Chris Perham, who were both eliminated at the end of stage two, finished 16th and 17th respectively.
