Do I have to be a member to take part in an event?
No. Non-members are welcome at most events listed on our website. However, the event organiser will charge non-members a Day Membership fee to compete. Also, to win titles and medals at your Home Nation's Championships or to represent Great Britain internationally you must be a British Triathlon member.
I have joined using my email address. I want to add my children using the same email address but the registration system won't let me. What should I do?
Please contact British Triathlon Membership Services and we will help you.
Can I set up a family membership?
As of 4th March 2019 British Triathlon no longer offer a family membership package, to best cater for individuals in their Swim, Bike, Run journey individuals need to have their own membership package. We do still offer a discount to families, please contact British Triathlon Membership Services and we will help you.
Family discounts are available for up to two adults and up to 3 children under the age of 18 for who you hold legal responsibility for and who reside at the same address. To purchase or renew with a Family discount, call our Membership on 01509 226153 (lines open Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm).
I would like to race abroad will my membership cover me?
If your membership package includes a race licence (Core and Ultimate packages), your licence is endorsed by British Triathlon for the purpose of competing in National and International competitions which means you may not have to pay the event organiser a day license fee. Certainly for ETU and ITU Age-Group Championships it does. You may also be covered for some elements under our insurance policy depending on your membership package, full detail about what insurance is included can be found here
Our Ultimate membership package provides the most comprehensive Public Liability and Personal Accident cover for racing and training abroad, to read more about what races and training you are covered for under the Ultimate membership please read the below list of event organisers:
ITU, ETU, TI, ASTC, ATU, OTU and CAMTRI events (as listed on the ITU events search - https://www.triathlon.org/events), Challenge, IronMan, Powerman, Xterra and Super League Triathlon sanctioned events
However, we do strongly recommend that you have adequate travel insurance that provides cover for racing abroad, including medical expenses and treatment, repatriation and cancellation/curtailment cover. You can read more about cover for racing abroad here.
I am intending to do a triathlon in France and train in Spain, will insurance cover these activities?
Please check which membership package you are on to ensure you are adequately covered for training and racing abroad.
Within our Core membership package the public liability insurance and personal accident insurance will cover racing abroad at ETU and ITU championships, and you will not need to take out a day membership to participate in the event. However you will not be covered for training abroad.
Within our Ultimate membership package the public liability insurance and personal accident insurance will cover these activities abroad although you will need to ensure the race is an approved race covered in this membership, and you may need to take out a day membership to participate in the event.
These policies are not a substitute for medical insurance or travel insurance; especially when travelling and competing abroad. It is strongly recommended that members take out relevant travel/medical insurance and/or cycle insurance to cover equipment. Please also ensure that you have the relevant EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) available when travelling in Europe. Please read more about racing abroad on our dedicated webpage.
